After we cleaned up our morning work and had a bathroom break, we came up to the rug for our Morning Circle. Today one of our friends held the flag while we put our hands over our hearts and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Then we sang "Salute the Flag" while saluting!
Salute the Flag
Salute the flag, the grand old flag
With colors red, white, and blue.
It stands for truth and liberty.
This flag is waving for you!
Salute!

After we listened to a book called Gingerbread Friends, it was time for centers. At Miss Kathleen's center we put eyes and buttons on our gingerbread babies, then did some dramatic play with them. (This gives Miss Kathleen a chance to listen to our language patterns and helps us learn to interact well with one another.) At our rug center we had our bristle blocks and our cars. The cars were a big hit with everyone--and we did a great job of sharing! At Miss Paula's center we worked our finger muscles while playing with PlayDoh. We need to have strong hand and finger muscles so we'll be ready to hold our pencils and scissors correctly!
Finally it was time to take a potty break and wash our hands to get ready for snack. We had pretzel sticks and Cheerios today--something salty and something sweet! We listened to one more book before packing up to go home today: The Gingerbread Girl Goes Animal Crackers!
