What an exciting day!  First we had our dads come and join us for donuts, then we sang for them and played with them for a little while.  After we showed our dads what a good job we did cleaning up, we kissed them and hugged them and said goodbye.

After our daddies left, Miss Jenna came to do music with us.  It was Miss Jenna's last day since she has taken another job, so we made the most of it.  We did a lot of singing and dancing and instrument playing!  When Miss Jenna left, we put on our coats and went outside for a little bit.

It was time for centers when we came back inside. At our rug center we had our horses and the stable along with our gear set.  There was a lot to do at the rug center!  At Miss Kathleen's center we worked with pegboards and the lightbox while Miss Kathleen checked how well we knew our letters and numbers.  At Miss Paula's center we had BristleBlocks and our St. Patrick's Day sensory tub.

It was a great day!

Wednesday, February 25

We've been working on some big-kid puzzles during Morning Work.  We're really proud of being able to finish these!

It was too cold and wet to go out this morning, so we started centers a little early.  We had our last day of working in the office at our rug center.  We'll have a new rug center on Friday.  At Miss Paula's center we made our March calendars.  We talked about shamrocks, another name for clovers, and the glittery pot of gold that leprechauns have.  At Miss Kathleen's center we used our letter stamps to practice our names, then we played with the lightbox while our friends finished their centers.

Monday, February 23

There were a lot of hard workers in our class during Morning Work today!

Working a big kid puzzle
Cutting with fancy scissors
Writing a note
Playing with Potato Heads

We went outside where it was kind of warm.  It felt a lot different from last week!  Another class of our friends was on the playground at the same time so it was double fun!

Going for a walk
Playing on the equipment
Hanging out
Fun on the seesaw
Lots of friends in the house
"Once upon a time..."
Telling stories under the equipment
At centers we had another day of working at the office.  We worked on our laptops and made phone calls to our friends. At Miss Kathleen's center we worked our fine motor skills with tweezers and pompoms while Miss Kathleen checked us on letters and numbers.  At Miss Paula's center we stamped shamrocks for our March placemats and played in our St. Patrick's Day sensory bin.  There are some really cool things in there!

Friday, February 20

We squeezed a lot into our shortened day today!  After cleaning up our Morning Work, we started our centers!  At our rug center, we continued to have fun working in our Office.  At Miss Paula's center we worked our finger muscles and our imaginations with our PopBeads.  At Miss Kathleen's center we used some pattern blocks to make pictures and we worked on a special surprise for our Donuts with Dads next week!

We also had a delicious healthy snack today!  Cheese sticks and grapes!  Did you know that raisins are dried up grapes?  We talked about that during snack today and then got to taste some raisins so we could compare.

Wednesday, February 18

Everyone practiced cutting during Morning Work today.  We had new fancy scissors to experiment with!  We also had our potato heads on the rug, a new crate of DINOSAUR books to share (We also talked about the letter Dd that helps us return the books to the correct crate!) and the peg mats at our manipulatives table.

During centers, we worked at the Office on the rug.  Some of us answered phones; some of us took notes; and some of us used the computers.  At Miss Kathleen's center, we first played with our photo blocks first, then stamped with letter stampers.  Some of us tried to stamp out words or names, but most of us just picked a stamp, identified the letter, and stamped! At Miss Paula's center we worked on a gift for our dads for next week's Donuts with Dads, then we played with BristleBlocks until our friends were ready to change centers.
