We had a great time at centers today.  We love our office center!  There's lots of business going on!

At Miss Paula's center we worked on our names and fine motor skills.  We practiced spelling for Miss Paula and we rolled play-doh to cover the letters in our names.

At Miss Kathleen's center we practiced counting and adding beads to our turkey feathers.

We're looking forward to our program tomorrow!  See you there!

Friday, November 22

We had the playground to ourselves on Friday morning!  It was a little bit wet, but we had a lot of fun!

When we came back inside we started our centers.  We had our office center on the rug again today and we were very busy!  At Miss Paula's center we worked on decorating a wreath for our December calendars.  We especially liked using the little red pompoms as berries!  At Miss Kathleen's center we learned the rules for a counting game with turkeys.  You roll the die and count out the correct number of beads to put on the turkey's pipe cleaner feathers.  Today we were very interested in exploring how many beads we could get on each pipe cleaner--we'll work on the counting part again on Monday!

(Sorry this post is so late!  I've been having some computer issues!  Friday's post will be up shortly!)

Morning Work!

Magnets!

At Miss Kathleen's center we finished our paperbag turkeys by stuffing them with newspaper.  Then we did some name practice and fine motor work by covering the letters of our names with play-doh.

At Miss Paula's center we used hole punches to get our trees ready for our December placemats.  They're going to look great!  We had a new center on the rug today.  We played office!  We had paper, pencils, computers, and phones to help us run our business.

Monday, November 18

We had another silly day in our classroom today!  We went outside right after we did our Morning Circle and Calendar Time.  It felt like summertime again!  We ran and played and had a great time.  Then we went over to the Sanctuary to practice for our Thanksgiving program with Miss Jenna and our friends.  We're doing a great job singing!

When we came back to our classroom we had snack before we had our centers!  That was a good thing because a lot of us were really hungry.  At our rug center we had our last day of playing with our action figures and colored wooden blocks.  At Miss Paula's center we made bracelets from cut-up straws and pipe cleaners, then we played with our magnet board.  At Miss Kathleen's center we finished our coffee filter turkeys and started on our paperbag turkeys.  We had a lot of fun at all of our centers today!

Friday, November 15

We had another silly Friday!  After our Morning Work, we went out to the playground right away--and then we didn't go back to our room.  Instead we went over to church to practice for our Thanksgiving program.

When we finally got back to our classroom, it was time for centers.  At our rug center, we still had our action figures and our colored wooden blocks.  (It's interesting to see the way the groups form and reform while working with these materials!)  At Miss Paula's center, some of us had to finish our costumes for the Thanksgiving program and then we played with the magnet board and worked on our fine motor control by picking up lizards, frogs, and snakes with our tweezers.  At Miss Kathleen's center we made a special turkey snack out of a sweet biscuit, peanut butter, raisins, almonds, cashews, banana chips, and pumpkin seeds!  some of us chose not to use all of the materials, but all of us had fun!
