After we cleaned up our morning work, we came up to the rug where Miss Kathleen showed us all of our names taped in different places. We had to find our spot and try to keep our bottom on it the whole time--even after we came back from our bathroom break! That was also when Miss Jenna came in to do music with us. Most of us had a really good time singing and dancing, but a couple of us were a little unsure and sat in chairs at the table by Miss Kathleen and Miss Paula to watch.
The next thing on our schedule was centers! Today at Miss Paula's center we practiced cutting with scissors. Some of us already know how to grip and cut, and some of us are just learning. We'll do a lot of practice with this very important skill this year. At Miss Kathleen's center we practiced learning our friends' names then we colored on a coffee filters with some markers. (We also practiced opening and closing marker lids--a great hand-strengthening activity!) Then Miss Kathleen dropped water on our coffee filters and they turned into beautiful colored circles! At our rug center we had another day of playing with our Little People and bristle blocks.
Finally it was time for snack! We cleaned up our centers, took a bathroom break and washed our hands, then sat on the rug to help pop popcorn! We had to be so quiet listening to our air-popper to hear the corn kernels popping. Then we all went to the table, said our blessing and ate popcorn (and a few animal crackers!)
After a long and busy morning, we listened to The Gingerbread Girl, then put on our backpacks and went out to wait for our families at carpool!
We had a great first week!
