We had some new things at our manipulatives Morning Work table--and we really had fun with them!  We also practiced with cutting at our fine motor skills MW table--then we got to bring home the scraps that we cut in our backpack!

At our Morning Circle, we did our calendar and talked about how it would be October on the next day we came to class.  We listened to Goldilocks and the Three Bears on the computer.  That was cool!  We also said our Pledge and sang "Salute the Flag" before feeding some coins into our kitty cat and puppy dog for homeless pets.

Finally it was time for centers!  At our rug center we had one more day to play with housekeeping, but we also had a new activity: a puppet theater!  We had a lot of fun with our finger puppets!

At Miss Paula's center we played with bears.  We counted to three--and beyond!  We also talked about colors, sizes, and making patterns with our bears.  Miss Paula said we did a great job following directions.

At Miss Kathleen's center we searched for treasures in our sensory bin.  While we were working Miss Kathleen asked us to come over to the table to tell her about different shapes and colors.

P.S.  We had a great response to our snack the last couple of days.  We had squeezy applesauce on Friday and these fruit strips (Target) today.  Our appreciation for different foods is growing!

Wednesday, September 24

Today during Morning Work we colored  pictures of the Three Billy Goats Gruff; examined our pumpkins; looked at books; counted days on our calendar; and had lots of fun waiting for all of our friends to arrive!

After a little bit of time out on the playground, we came back in for our Morning Circle time then got ready for centers.  At Miss Kathleen's center we had another day of mixing paint.  Today we found out that when you mix red and blue, you get purple. At Miss Paula's center we made our October calendars.  They're so cool!  We drew spider webs, then glued on spiders and pumpkins!  At our rug center we played with our big LEGOS and housekeeping again.  Today we had aprons and pot holders and play food!

After we finished snack we had a little bit of extra time so Miss Kathleen got out our parachute.  We did a pretty good job following directions and learning how to use teamwork to make things bounce!  Then we sang and danced to Chicka Boom from Dr. Jean's Keep On Singing and Dancing CD. Here we are singing Hold Your Nose style!

Chicka Boom (Echo chant)
I said a boom chicka boom.
I said a boom chicka boom.
I said a boom chicka boom.
I said a boom chicka boom.
I said a boom chicka rocka chicka rocka

Uh huh! Uh huh! Oh yeah! Oh yeah!

Monday, September 22

We did something silly today!  One of our friends wore something that matched our boys' line-up tape, so we switched our lines all day!

We were very busy during morning work!  We had our gear plate out--and a lot of us built gear chains and made them move.

It was beautiful on the playground this morning!  We spent a lot of time on the bridge of our playground equipment.  We read The Billy Goats Gruff from our new box of books (Fairy Tales and Nursery Rhymes--marked with an F) and reenacted the story on the playground with our own bridge!  Of course, everyone wanted to be a billy goat!

When we got back to the classroom we counted to 22 for our calendar, said the Pledge of Allegiance, sang Salute the Flag, and got ready for centers.  At our rug center we played with big LEGOS and housekeeping again.  We've really enjoyed this center!

At Miss Paula's center we made billy goats!  Then we retold the story of the billy goats crossing the bridge using our billy goats!

At Miss Kathleen's center we played in our sensory bin.  While we counted "treasures" and scooped up beans and corn kernels, Miss Kathleen started doing some evaluations about our knowledge of colors and numbers.
