Friday, September 30

We had some fun choices for our morning work today.  Some of us worked at the puzzle table; some colored and cut; and others built cube towers/patterns and used our felt board.  Right after our morning work and bathroom break, we went outside to play.  We have a silly schedule on Friday because Miss Caitlin comes to do music.

Miss Caitlin did a lot of fun songs with us today.  We practiced singing BINGO (B-I-N-G-O and Bingo was his name oh!) and using our sticks instead of clapping.  We also did a rockin' stick song that you can see on this video link:  https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/-TTmPHvbs7TwuARDBe_E00jkpjS3dcNE0oWGiuFEF9I?feat=directlink

After we said goodbye to Miss Caitlin, we went to our centers.  At Miss Kathleen's center we used art tape to make some cool collages.  We had to wet the pieces of tape on our sponge and then put them on our paper.  With Miss Hennessy we did beading/patterns and practiced lacing.  Some of us are really good at making three-color patterns!  We had some new toys on our rug center today.  There were two different kinds of puppets and some castle blocks.  There was a lot of role playing going on up on the rug!

Our gingerbread man went to visit a farm today and he told our class all about it!  We sang farm songs; pretended we were farm animals; looked at some new books in our FARM crate; and had some farm-related centers.  At Miss Kathleen's center we had some sugar snap peas:  They tasted kind of like green frenchfries. (Almost of us liked these!)  Then we made our own pea pods and peas and practiced counting them.

At our rug center, we played with our Little People toys, including our farm set.  There were a lot of animal noises up on the rug today!  Mrs. Hennessy measured our height/weight today and then we did some arts and crafts.  We used stickers and crayons and scissors to make some beautiful designs.

After our centers we went out to the playground.  It was nice to be able to play in the cool and breezy weather.  We were tired and hungry by the time we came in to wash up for snack!

Wednesday, September 14

We had a small class today because so many of our friends stayed home sick.  Those of us who were here painted with watercolors in Miss Kathleen's center, used our imaginations playing at our housekeeping center, and practiced our fine motor skills with Mrs. Hennessy making stained glass gingerbread men!

After we finish snack we clean up our placemats and cups then come up to the rug to look at books.  We get to choose one to take home and share with our families each day.  When we come in the next morning and unpack our backpacks, we take out our book and return it to its crate on the rug.  So far we have three different crates to choose from:  ABC books;  Gingerbread books; and Dr. Seuss books.  Please help us remember to put our books into our backpacks each night and return them for others to borrow.

We had such busy centers this morning that Miss Kathleen forgot to get her camera out!  Luckily she remembered to take it out to the playground with us!
