Centers

Gluing autumn leaves on our calendars
(We made colored these coffee filter leaves with liquid watercolors and eyedroppers.)

We had some new rug centers today:  a pirate ship and pirate puppets; castle blocks; and builder/bender blocks.

We made some handprint ghosts and then covered them with sparkly glitter!

Friday, October 21

After our morning work at tables, we had our bathroom break, then settled into centers.  We had our dollhouse and our construction set up on the rug.  We used chalkboards at Miss Kathleen's center--erasing was the hardest part!  At our last center, Miss Camille helped us with our noodle builders.  (Mrs. Hennessy was out today and Miss Camille was her sub.)  As you can see we found lots of things to do with these.  (For other ideas on using pool noodles, see http://pinterest.com/teachpreschool/noodles/ )

After centers, we went outside to enjoy the beautiful weather.  After we came in and washed our hands it was time for snack.  Ella brought in a delicious snack that had both salty (pretzels) and sweet (raisins) tastes.  When we finished our snack, we went up on the floor to choose a book.  A lot of  us were excited to see a new crate of books on the rug--Mickey Mouse/Walt Disney books!

Wednesday, October 19

We had a silly schedule today because the firefighters from the Southside Fire Department came to visit us.  We were so excited to see the big trucks and to talk to the firemen!  When we went out on the playground afterward, some of us decided to play firefighter too!

Friday, October 14

We had music with Miss Caitlin today.  In addition to practicing our Halloween songs, we sang our Hello song and got to shake hands with our neighbors.  There was some more shaking going on in just a few minutes...If you click on the link to the video below, you'll see us doing some fancy moves with our musical shakers!

After music we went outside to enjoy the beautiful weather.  It was so nice to not worry about rain!

When we came in we washed all of the germs off of our hands, then enjoyed the delicious snack that Lily brought in for us.  The applesauce was a real treat!

The last thing we did on this silly mixed-up Friday was go to centers.  At our rug center we palyed with the dollhouses and construction set.  With Miss Kathleen we explored some science materials with our magnifying glasses.  Some of us also wanted to see what our fingers, friends, and clothes looked liked when magnified!  We made spider hats with Mrs. Hennessy.  These weren't quite dry yet so we have to wait until Monday to bring them home.
