Miss Kathleen's 3s: September 2015

Wednesday, September 30

We counted all the way to 30 on our calendar today! We talked about how exciting it will be when we come back on Friday and it's the new month of October We have a lot of exciting things going on next month

Then, before we knew it, it was time to go outside and get our pictures taken by Miss Lori. We did a great job smiling! (Look for an email tomorrow with details on checking out the proofs online and ordering.)

After some time on the playground, we came in and got busy with centers. Miss Kathleen has been doing some assessments at her center this week so we've done some independent exploring at her center. Today we worked with the lightbox and the sensory bin while Miss Kathleen asked us about colors and shapes and names. At our rug center, we had our puppets and castle blocks. We've been practicing having our puppets be good friends while playing--or else they have to sit in the time-out chair! At Miss Paula's center, we talked about the three main colors of apples, then we worked on our fine motor skills by using dot markers to color in our apples.

Monday, September 28

Mondays are such busy days! Today during Morning Work, we colored a Three Little Pigs picture (and practiced retelling the story!); worked with some new manipulatives; built with our ladders on the rug; put together a Brown Bear, Brown Bear puzzle; and chose some books from our new book box of Fairy Tales and Nursery Rhymes (Ff).

Then it was time for Spanish with Senora Hillary! We practiced some of our Spanish words and phrases like buenos dias, sombrero, hola, and adios. We also sang a song (to the tune of Frere Jacques) and waved hello and goodbye!

We went out onto the playground and had a great time running around! When Miss Kathleen took a picture of some of us on the fire truck; more of us came to get into the picture; then more of us; and more of us; then everybody was on the firetruck!

We came back inside and got started on our centers right away. At Miss Kathleen's center, we played in the fall sensory bin while she asked us some questions about our colors and shapes. At our rug center we had a great time with our hand puppets and castle building blocks. At Miss Paula's center we did a lot of talking about colors ans sizes while creating patterns with our building bears.

Wednesday, September 23

We had a lot of fun with our last day of big BLOX and baby dolls at our rug center. The baby dolls have been our favorite rug center so far! At Miss Paula's center we worked on our October calendars. We used lots of glitter and lots of glue! At Miss Kathleen's center we played in the fall sensory bin while she asked us about colors and shapes. Then we had a special sweet snack--one of our frineds baked us some chocolate chip cookies! They were delicious!

Monday, September 21

We had our first music class with Miss Jenna today. All of our friends from the other 3s classes came to visit us! We sang, danced, and kept time with bells. We also did a great job at following directions and listening!

After our friends went back to their classrooms, we took some of the donations down to the Be Kind To Animals collection table. Today was the boys' turn to help.

Then we had a great time playing on the playground. On the way back inside we stopped to say hi to Mr. and Mrs. Lizard who were watching us line up so quietly!

At centers today we made a Billy Goat Gruff--and we practiced retelling the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff. We also explored our fall sensory bin, built with Mega BLOX, and played the Maisey game!
