Wednesday, December 18

We had a great time outside this morning!  Before we went in for centers, we walked over to the nativity scene at school to sing Happy Birthday to baby Jesus and get our picture taken.

At centers, it was our last day of playing withe the Littlest Pet Shop.  That has been our most popular rug center yet!  With Miss Paula we played Christmas BINGO (and used snowballs made of styrofoam for our markers) and then decorated our class Christmas tree.  At Miss Kathleen's center we made and decorated play-doh Christmas trees--and counted out pom-pom ornaments on our paper trees.

Then we had our Christmas party!  What a great day!

Monday, December 16

We didn't even take our coats off when we came in from carpool today because we went right over to the church to practice for our Christmas program.

After practice, we walked right out to the playground and had our outside time.

Finally we came in and had centers!  They were a little bit short because it was already 10:30, but we still had fun.  We added puppets to our rug center to play with in our Littlest Pet Shop.  At Miss Paula's center we made Reindeer Food!  We have to save it until Christmas Eve and then put some on our front lawns as a snack for Santa's reindeer.  At Miss Kathleen's center we picked out tissue paper and put all of our ornaments in our Christmas box so they'd be all ready to bring home on Wednesday.

Friday, December 13

We had a wonderful Friday!  After a quick trip out to the playground, we came back in to have music with Miss Jenna.  She brought her ukulele with her for Feliz Navidad and we talked about some of the differences between ukuleles and guitars.

After music we had centers.  At our rug center we continued playing with the Littlest Pet Shop.  There were blocks out at the rug center too, but no one played with them!  Everyone is still enjoying the Pets!  At Miss Paula's center we finished up some of the Christmas projects we've been working on and then played with the Nativity set and decorated our Christmas tree.  At Miss Kathleen's center we made a Christmas ornament and then worked on sorting, counting, and fine motor skills while we put pom-pom Christmas balls on our trees.

Wednesday, December 11

Today was a wacky Wednesday in our class!  Miss Kathleen was hardly even in the room because she had to pretend she was Miss Lesley in the office.  (Poor Miss Lesley was home sick!)  Luckily Miss Lisa came to school and helped Miss Paula with all of our work.  (Miss Kathleen did sneak in to take some pictures though!)

Before we started our centers, our friends from the other 3s classes came into our room and we practiced singing Feliz Navidad all together.  We did a great job--and we loved wearing our hats and shaking our maracas!  If you'd like to practice with us at home, the version we use is:

Feliz Navidad! Feliz Navidad! Feliz Navidad!
Prospero ano y felicidad!
Feliz Navidad! Feliz Navidad! Feliz Navidad!
Prospero ano y felicidad!

I want to wish you a Merry Christmas--
I want to wish you a Merry Christmas--
I want to wish you a Merry Christmas--
From the bottom of my heart!

I want to wish you a Merry Christmas--
I want to wish you a Merry Christmas--
I want to wish you a Merry Christmas--
From the bottom of my heart!

Merry Christmas!  (Cha-cha-cha!)

If you see a little bit of brown paint on our toes or black paint under our fingernails, it's because we painted them at one of our centers!  We can't tell you exactly what we did because it's one of our Christmas surprises, but it was pretty cool.  We even had buckets of water in the classroom to wash off our feet!

While some of us worked on the Christmas surprise, the rest of us went to centers.  Some of us played at the Littlest Pet Shop center on the rug; some of us decorated Christmas trees and wrapped presents; some of us played with the Nativity scene; and some of us played with Bristle Blocks.  All of us had fun!

Monday, December 9

We had a busy, silly Monday today!  Right after Morning Work we went over to the church to practice for our Christmas program.  We were great singers!  We made sure to look at the Nativity scene set up by the school with its big bright star shining over baby Jesus.

By the time we got back to our room it was so late we took our bathroom break, washed our hands, and had our snack.  THEN we had centers!

At Miss Kathleen's center we played with the Christmas calendar, decorated the Christmas tree, and painted our hands red for a special Christmas box.  At Miss Paula's center, we decorated a Christmas wreath to add to our ornament collection, then colored a Nativity picture.  We played with our Littlest PetShop set again at our rug center.  That's a really fun center.  We even had some pretend firemen rescuing our pets!

Friday, December 6

*We were so busy on Wednesday with our first Christmas program practice, centers, outside time, and everything else that Miss Kathleen forgot to even get out her camera!

We started our Friday out on the playground.  It was a little bit wet, but we didn't mind!
Important discussions!

When we came inside, we had music with Miss Jenna.  She practiced some of our Christmas program songs with us and sang a silly song about the color of Rudolph's nose!

Rudolph the Yellow-Nosed Reindeer!!

What color will be next?

After music we had centers.  We've loved playing with our Littlest Pet Shop center.  There are so many different pieces!  At Miss Paula's center we worked on a Christmas ornament and played with our Nativity scene.  At Miss Kathleen's center we finished our clothespin angels and decorated, undecorated, and redecorated our little Christmas tree.

We had a great day!
