Wednesday, January 13

After our Morning Work, we went outside and played in the sunshine.  It was beautiful!

Then we came back to the classroom and started centers.  We had our Office Center on the rug again.  We're are really enjoying being office workers!

At Miss Paula's center we made snowmen out of playdoh.  We rolled and decorated and pretended that they could talk!

At Miss Kathleen's center we made snowmen too--but these were made out of marshmallows.  We made glue out of powdered sugar and water and then decorated our snowmen with chocolate chips and raisins.  We saved them and ate them for snack.  They were delicious!

Monday, January 11

After cleaning up our Morning Work we had Spanish with Senora Hillary.  Today we practiced Words for Manners in Spanish and the names of some animals.  We learned:

  • por favor (please)
  • gracias (thank you)
  • de nada (you're wlecome)
  • salud! (for when someone sneezes)
  • gato (cat)
  • perro (dog)
  • pez/peces (fish)

Then we went outside.  We were so surprised to find ice on some parts of the playground!  It was exciting!  We didn't stay outside very long because it was so cold.

At our rug center today we had another day working at the office.  At Miss Paula's center we worked our hand and finger muscles with golf tees and styrofoam.  We put them in and pulled them out--and then used hammers on them!  At Miss Kathleen's center we did some more strengthening of our hand/finger muscles using toothpicks and styrofoam.  We had to push in the toothpicks to outline our names.  That was fun!

Friday, January 8

It was too wet to go outside today, so after we cleaned up our Morning Work we started right in on our centers.  At Miss Paula's center we played in our snow sensory bin.  That was so much fun!  We even built some ice houses out of styrofoam.  At Miss Kathleen's table we painted with blue and white finger paint on aluminum foil.  Then we pressed white paper on top of it to make more pictures!  It was a little messy, but we enjoyed it.  We had our office center on the rug again--we had a lot of fun answering phones and working on keyboards.

At snack time we used our new January placemats--and practiced using our first and last names!  Some of us got the giggles at how strange our full names sounded!  We also had a really cool healthy snack: cheese sticks and butterflies!

Wednesday, January 6

We were certainly excited to be back at school today!  We extended out Morning Work time a little bit to give everyone a chance to catch up and chat--and because we had so much fun!

We bundled up and went outside to the playground for awhile, but first we stopped to visit Mr. and Mrs. Snowman.  We were surprised to see that there's a snowbaby with them now!

When we came back inside it was time for centers.  We had our office center on the rug.  That was a lot of fun!  We had laptops, phones, keyboards, calculators, notepads, and pencils!  At Miss Paula's center we worked on our calendars and at Miss Kathleen's center we finished our January placemats.

After we cleaned up our centers, we helped one of our friends celebrate his birthday!  We even had a special sweet snack--donuts!  Then it was time to choose our books and pack up to go home.

Merry Christmas!

Wednesday, December 16

We went for a walk to check out WIPP's new swingset.  We can't wait until we get back from Christmas break so we can start swinging!

After we came in, we had centers.  At Miss Kathleen's center we decorated Christmas cookies for our party.  We used our fingers to spread the icing! At the rug center we had our last day of Potato Heads for a while.  We'll miss those!  At Miss Paula's center we made reindeer food, then put it in our backpacks to take home and spread outside on Christmas Eve.

After we cleaned up our centers, it was time for our party!  We had lots of great treats, lots of visitors, and lots of fun!
