Drawing the Nativity scene
Dramatic play with the Nativity scene
Lots of Potato Heads!

Monday, November 30

We enjoyed the last day of November--and started talking about December and the Christmas story.  We've begun to practice our songs for the Christmas program.  It's hard to believe that it's less than three weeks away!

On our way back to the classroom from the playground we stopped at the outdoor Nativity to compare it to our small classroom set.  The people were the same, but we noticed there were no animals or angels in the outside one.

At Miss Kathleen's center we practiced our fine motor skills by using eye-droppers to color coffee filters.  We'll turn these into poinsettias when they dry.  At Miss Paula's center we made our December placemats.  We can't wait to use them!  We had several choices at our rug center.  Some of us played with the tabletop Nativity scene, while others looked at our new box of Christmas books or built Potato Heads.

After we cleaned up our centers we sang Happy Birthday to one of our friends--then had a delicious birthday snack!

Monday, November 23

We've been practicing being quiet little bats and gliding through the hallways.  Today we also read Bats on the Beach and laughed at some of the silly things like "munchtime" with bug marshmallows.

At Miss Kathleen's center we used our magnifying glasses along with our sensory bin.  We also made shapes on the magnet board.  At the rug center we had our last day with our pirate puppets and gear table.  We've had a lot of fun with those!  At Miss Paula's center we made our December calendars.  It's hard to believe that it's almost December!

Friday, November 20

We had some busy workers starting the day today  While some of us built long ladders, others read books or coloered and cut.

At Miss Paula's center we used magnifying glasses to examine acorns (and some worms that crawled out of them!) and each other.  We also made some felt turkeys on our feltboards.  At Miss Kathleen's center we painted--and practiced rinsing our brushes off when we changed colors.  At the rug center we had another day of pirate puppets and gears.

Wednesday, November 18

Even though the weather was a little gray, we had fun out on the playground. On the way back in to class, we saw some of our lizard friends--in some silly places!

Before we started our centers we carried down some of the food that has been donated to help families who are hungry.

At Miss Paula's center today we showed off our writing--and our pencil-holding skills!  At Miss Kathleen's center we painted and practiced rinsing our brushes off to keep our colors clean. At our rug center we played with our pirate ship and pirate puppets and built with our gear table.

And...we sang Happy Birthday and shared a special birthday snack with one of our friends!

Monday, November 16

It was a silly day today!  We started out going over to the Sanctuary to practice for our Thanksgiving program.  We were such good singers!

After practice we played on the playground for a little bit, then came inside to start our centers.  We had some new things at our rug center: a pirate ship with pirate puppets and a gear table.  They both were a lot of fun. At Miss Paula's table, we worked our hand muscles and coordination by weaving.  It was a little hard for some of us!  At Miss Kathleen's center we took a quick break outside to take our pictures for the December placemats, then came back in to play with the fall lightbox and the magnet board.
