Happy Valentine's Day!  We had a busy morning before our party today.  At centers, we played Office, made our invitations for Donuts with Dads, and delivered our Valentine cards (we played with our "candy" PlayDoh while waiting for our turn to be the mail deliverer.)

It was almost time for our Valentine party. First we sang Happy Birthday to our friend, then said our blessing and danced to Valentine by Groovy Ruby--that's our favorite Valentine's Day song!  Finally it was time to enjoy our delicious treats and Valentine surprises!

Wednesday, February 11

Each morning when we come in, our first stop after hanging up our backpacks and coats is the Coloring/Cutting table.  It gives us a chance to practice our grip, work our fine motor skills, and create!  Some of us only spend a couple of minutes at this table, but some of us hang out for most of our Morning Work time!

At Miss Kathleen's center today we worked on a Valentine's surprise for our moms and dads.  We can't wait to share them on Friday.  At our rug center we worked at our office again.  As you can see there was a lot of important business getting done!  At Miss Paula's center we made Valentine's candy!  Well, it was really PlayDoh that smelled like chocolate, but it was a lot of fun to work with!

Monday. February 9

We had some brand new things to work with this morning!  Before we could play with the car tracks on the rug, we had to figure out how to put them together.  That took some problem solving!  Some of us worked at the Manipulative Table while others played restaurant or danced!

We had a wonderful time out on the playground today.  Not only did we get to play in the nice warm weather, but we saw four giant planes fly overhead while we were out there.  We all stopped playing to look and wave.  As we were coming back inside, we saw Paco, Taco, and one of the baby lizards enjoying the sunshine.

At our centers we had some fun with phones!  Our new rug center was The Office where we had phones, laptops, and notepads to work with.  Today everyone seemed to be talking on the phones!  At Miss Kathleen's center we read a Clifford Valentine magazine and used our I-Spy-Eyes to match some pictures and letters.  We also practiced saying I LOVE YOU in sign language.  At Miss Paula's center we painted hearts with cardboard tubes.  It was really a different way to paint!  When we finished we played in our Valentine's sensory bin until our friends finished their work.

Friday, February 6

We came in this morning and discovered that our "snowman" had completely melted.  The only things left were the plastic bags and his hat! We also spent some time during Morning Work building with our MegaBlox, practicing our grip with pompoms, experimenting with our magnet center, and gathering flowers.

We spent a little bit of time out on the playground then came back in to start our centers.  We played with our cars for the last day at our rug center.  We'll have a new center on the rug next week.  At Miss Paula's center we used our red stamp pads and Valentine stampers to make some cool pictures.  They dried quickly so we got to bring them home today!  At Miss Kathleen's center we painted heart cutouts on our easels.  That was cool!  While we waited for our friends to finish, we practiced our fine motor skills with our toothpick boards.

We had a special healthy snack today that almost everyone liked!  It was delicious!

Wednesday, February 4

We always get busy right away with our Morning Work!  This morning we had Valentine's Day music on and some of us decided to dance when we finished!

Even though it was cloudy, it wasn't too cold.  One of the things we had the most fun doing was playing restaurant.  Here you can see our server taking our order and then hurrying over to the kitchen to check on our food!

When we came back inside we listened to a story about Valentine's Day called Froggy's First Kiss.  Froggy is so silly!  We love his books.

At centers today we played with our cars and garages again on the rug.  We might never get tired of this center!  At Miss Paula's center we decorated our bags for our Valentine cards.  We added hearts and lace and stickers to get them all ready for our Valentine cards next week!  At Miss Kathleen's center we got our Valentine's list with everyone's name on it.  We practiced finding our own names--and holding a pencil correctly.  Then we put our list in our backpacks and worked our fine motor skills by making toothpick designs!
