Wednesday, January 14

We had another cold drizzly day where we didn't get to go out on the playground.  We made up for it by having a lot of fun inside!  After our Morning Work and Circle Time, we came back from our bathroom break to start centers.  At our rug center we played with Jake & the Neverland Pirates LEGOS and Noah's Ark for the last day.  We'll have a completely new rug center on Friday.

At Miss Paula's center we made Playdoh snowmen!  We used buttons and toothpicks and raisins and pipe cleaners to build some really cool snowmen--and snow dogs--and snow cats too!

At Miss Kathleen's center we worked on name puzzles and name tracing.  We even got to bring our name puzzles home to practice for homework.  When we finished, we made snowballs out of newspaper and then put them in bags to make a snowman!

Monday, January 12

We welcomed two more new friends to our class today.  We are now completely filled up with 16 kids!

We had a lot of fun at Morning Work today.  At our manipulative table we had puzzles and our Crystal Climbers on a mirror.  We talked about what a reflection was and looked at the reflections of our creations in the mirror. We also played with our Noah's Ark on the rug and acted out stories with our snowmen decorations while looking at books!

It was way too wet to go outside so we started our centers right after our Morning Circle.  We had our Jake & the Neverland Pirated LEGOS on the rug where we did lots of talking and dramatic play.  At Miss Paula's center we had a lot of manipulatives.  We worked with tracing, lacing, and POP Beads.  Our finger muscles really got a workout!  At Miss Kathleen's center we had our snow sensory bin again, but we also had an ice sensory center!  Some of us didn't like the cold of the real ice!

We made popcorn for our salty snack today.  We enjoyed eating it from the center of our tables instead of from our placemats.  After we heard our story, we sang about Tiny Tim the snowman, then waited for Miss Lesley to call our names for carpool.  We got to listen to the story of The Three Little Pigs read on the computer while we waited.  Some of us got a little tired and decided to lie down for a nap!

Tiny Tim
I had a little snowman
His name was Tiny Tim
I put him in the bathtub
to teach him how to swim!
He drank up all the water (Gulp!)
He ate up all the soap (Gulp!)
When he tried to sing
He had a bubble in his throat!
Glub! Glub! Glub!

Friday, January 9

We started our day by bundling up and heading outside to look for ice.  We found some at the fountain in the garden, and Miss Kathleen broke off pieces of the icicles for us to hold.  We didn't find ice any where else--even though we looked hard!

We came back inside and did our Morning Circle then started our centers.  We played with Jake & the Neverland Pirates LEGOS at our rug center--we're really enjoying those!  At Miss Paula's center we worked on our January placemats then built things with the Pop-Em Beads until everyone else was finished at centers.  At Miss Kathleen's center we used our new snow sensory bin.  That was really cool!  We also practiced writing our names with different kinds of pencils.

Wednesday, January 7

It was good to be back with all of our friends!  We had a new friend join our class today too.  We had a lot of fun getting to know her!  After a little bit of Morning Work we put our coats back on and went out onto the playground.  We had a lot of fun sitting on the hay bales that are outside--and we saw Paco, Taco, and Baby Lizard hiding behind our tree when we lined up to come back inside!

At our centers today we did some writing with Miss Kathleen--and we got our pictures taken dressed up like a snowman!  At our rug center we played with Jake and the Neverland Pirate LEGOS.  We really had had fun building and acting out.  At Miss Paula's center we made our January calendars.  We worked at peeling snowman stickers and glued on some cold weather mittens!

We had a special treat at snack today.  After we sang Happy Birthday to our friend, we had some special pink and purple hippopotamus cookies!

Friday, December 19

We had so much fun today!  Miss Lesley helped us wait patiently until it was time to go over to the church--and then we went in and sang!

Feliz Navidad!

Wednesday, December 17

Our last real school day before Christmas break was a busy one.  Our friends from the other 3s classes came over to our room to practice our songs for the Christmas program.  We did a really good job!  Then we went out on the playground--but first we checked the tree to see if our lizards were there.  Sure enough we saw Paco, Taco, and Baby!  Then two of them went behind the tree to hide, but one stayed to watch us!

When we came in we got started on our centers.  It was our last day to play with the horses, stable, and Lincoln Logs at the rug center--and we made the most of it!  At Miss Lou's center we made PlayDoh cookies--with glitter PlayDoh!  At Miss Kathleen's center we made reindeer food!  We hope Santa's reindeer will come and eat it on Christmas Eve.  While we waited for our friends to finish all of their centers, we decorated our Christmas tree.

After we cleaned up our centers and washed our hands, it was time for our Christmas party!  Thank you to everyone who helped out!
