It was beautiful outside this morning! We enjoyed our time on the playground, but we were excited to come back inside and have snack--with our new March placemats! Then it was time for our centers!
We have a couple more days to play with our kitchen and gears on the rug. At Miss Paula's center, we caught up on our St. Patrick's Day parade crafts and played with the magnet board and sensory bin. At Miss Kathleen's center we played with ELLOS. These are manipulatives that are a little like LEGOS, but in more shapes and colors. We built some cool things!

We found ice on the playground this morning! We went outside right away--just in time to find some blobs of ice melting on the big sliding boards. It warmed up quickly though, and we had a lot of fun outside.
After we came in we got ready for music with Miss Jenna. We played a lot of different instruments today while Miss Jenna played the guitar. We also did a very good job of happily accepting whatever instrument we ended up playing.
At centers today, we continued to play with our gears and our kitchen center on the rug. At Miss Kathleen's center, she checked how well we knew our numbers while we played with Pop-Beads and the lightbox. Some of us made long chains with the Pop-Beads while others made bead families. We also had some cool patterns on the lightbox. At Miss Paula's center we worked on some fans and crowns for our St. Patrick's Day parade. While we waited for our friends to finish, we played in the March sensory tub.

We didn't get to go outside today because of the rain, but we had a lot of fun inside! The restaurant was crowded during center time. There was a little bit of interest in the gears that were at the rug center, but a lot more time was spent playing with the kitchen!
At Miss Paula's center we finished making our March calendars and placemats. We glued on all of the sparkly shamrocks and pots of gold that we started on Monday, then we used the magnet board and March sensory tub while we waited for our friends to finish.
At Miss Kathleen's center, we made some designs with pop-beads and played with the lightbox while Miss Kathleen asked us to tell her some letters and do some counting.

We took a walk before we went to the playground today. We found leprechauns and signs of St. Patrick's Day all over! We even said the Pledge of Allegiance and sang "Salute the Flag" at one of the flags outside in the garden.
At centers today, we continued to play restaurant with our kitchen center. We even practiced carrying food on trays! We also had our gears to figure out. At Miss Paula's center we added lots of glitter to shamrocks and pots of gold. On Wednesday we'll add these to our March calendars and placemats. While we were waiting for our friends to finish, we made pictures and patterns on our St. Patrick's Day magnet board. At Miss Kathleen's center we had lots of fun in our sensory tub. There were shamrocks and beads and leprechauns--all buried in green rice! While we were sifting and playing, Miss Kathleen asked some of us to tell her all of the letters we knew.

We had a lot of fun with our Morning Work today! One of the biggest excitements was the rug activity with cardboard tubes and plastic cars. The children experimented with changing the height and location of the tubes to see what would make the cars go fastest--and farthest! We also had a lot of fine-motor skills getting a work-out at our manipulatives table.
We went outside for a little bit before we had music with Miss Jenna. We sang and danced and played some instruments--and today Miss Jenna even took some requests for what songs she should sing!
At center time, we played with our gear set and our kitchen center. We're having a lot of fun with both of those. At Miss Paula's center we painted shamrocks--with toilet paper rolls! That was cool! At Miss Kathleen's center we wrote on our chalkboards, but first we had to be a little silly with our eraser cloths!

It was great to be back at school after our long weekend. We had lots and lots to talk about! Even though it's not even March yet, we've begun to talk about St. Patrick's Day. Today we read a book about leprechauns and shamrocks and then went outside to see if we could find any clover with three or four leaves.
When we came inside it was time for centers. At our rug center, we had our kitchen stuff out and a lot of us decided to play restaurant. We also had the gear panel out, but that didn't get a lot of use today. We all wanted to play in the kitchen.

At Miss Paula's center we made our own shamrocks by gluing hearts together. We also traced and colored shamrocks. We used a lot of green crayons!
At Miss Kathleen's center we did some writing and drawing on our white boards. While we were working, Miss Kathleen asked some of us to tell her the capital letters we knew.
