Wednesday, March 11

We still had work to do to get ready for Friday's parade, but that didn't stop us from doing some teamwork building and mosaic-making during Morning Work.  We also practiced our cutting with the fancy scissors.  We love those!

It was a beautiful day outside today. We had a lot of fun running around and being wild and crazy--and just sitting on the bench waving at our friends!

When we came in, we started centers right away.  Miss Paula helped us make our hats for the parade.  While we were waiting for our friends to finish, we built some cool things with the ELLOS.  At Miss Kathleen's center we read a Clifford magazine about Finding Leprechauns--and then we played with some leprechaun gold!  We even got to put it in our backpacks to take home.  At our rug center we had our puppets and our kid blocks.  (These are wooden blocks with our pictures and names on them.)  We had fun creating adventures with them.

After we cleaned up our centers, washed our hands, and had our snack, it was time to pick our books to take home with us.  We love books!  

Monday, March 9

We were hard workers at centers today!  We played St. Patrick's Day BINGO with Miss Paula.  We practiced our letters--and our listening skills!  At Miss Kathleen's center we worked with ELLOS.  These were really cool to build with!  We played with our puppets again at the rug center.  Those are a lot of fun!

Friday, March 6

There was a lot of excitement this morning while we were on the playground!  A landscaping company was cleaning up the garden and we got to watch them unload and move the trailers in the parking lot.

At Miss Kathleen's center, we worked with puzzles, magnets, and the lightbox while waiting our turn to count and tell our letters.  At Miss Paula's table we put together our fans for the St. Patrick's Day parade.  At our rug center we had our puppets and our Builder & Bender blocks.  We had to put some of our puppets in time out because they weren't being good friends!  (*One of the rules when playing with Potato Heads or puppets is that they have to be good friends just like we do.  They can't chase each other, hit each other, or be mean to each other.  If they do, they have to sit in the time out chair--sometimes with whoever was holding them at the time! When we talked about this today, some of the children decided that they needed to put some of the puppets in the time out chairs.  These rarely get used in our class, but today they stayed occupied for most of center time!)  

After we cleaned up our centers we had a delicious healthy snack brought in by one of our friends! We loved the applesauce and fruit snacks!

Wednesday, March 4

After we cleaned up our Morning Work and had a bathroom break, we went to the playground.  It was so nice to be able to go outside today.  The weather was wonderful--and we even got to see some of the lizard family on the playground.  We think they were watching us play!

At centers we had one more day of playing with our horses and gears.  We've had a lot of fun at that center!  We'll have a new rug center on Friday.  At Miss Paula's center we used our eye droppers to "paint" some shamrocks green.  We worked very carefully!  As Miss Kathleen checked our letters and numbers, we put together a BIG puzzle, played with the lightbox, and did some writing. 

Monday, March 2

We were really busy during Morning Work today. First we did our coloring and cutting, then we worked on our manipulatives and Potato Heads.

At centers today, we experimented with MoonSand with Miss Paula.  Some of us didn't like the feel of this at all!  At Miss Kathleen's center we worked some Frozen puzzles while Miss Kathleen checked the numbers and letters that we know.  At our rug center we had another day for dramatic play with our horses and building with our gears.

Since we didn't get to go outside today, we got out the parachute after snack time.  We have gotten really good at following directions while floating and bouncing and rippling the parachute!  Today we even bounced one of our pool noodles on it!
