Monday, November 17

We started working on another floor puzzle during Morning Work today.  We practiced looking for straight edges, using the picture on the box, and teamwork!  We also used teamwork to take some more cans down to our Second Harvest Food Drive barrels.

We spent a little longer than usual on the playground this morning since it might be our last warm day for a while.  We had a great time!

When we came back inside we got ready for centers.  At our rug center we had our Gear Table and our Pirate Ship--and we had a lot of fun with both of them.  At Miss Paula's table we made creations with Pop-Arty Beads.  All of us loved making cool things with these--and they are a great way to work our finger muscles and fine motor skills!  At Miss Kathleen's center, we made turkey legs (and then pretended to eat them!)  While we waited for our friends to finish at their centers we used our mosaic tiles to make designs.

Monday, November 10

We had a lot of fun working on our puzzle at Morning Work today.  Miss Paula wasn't at school so Miss Stacy helped us today.  We were really happy to have her!  We talked a little bit about Veterans' Day when we said our Pledge of Allegiance and sang "Salute the Flag".  We always do a really good job on this to show that we love our country.

We went outside and had a lot of fun.  On the way back inside we saw Paco the Lizard hiding by the gingerbread man!  We were very quiet so we didn't scare him.

We had our pirate ship and castle blocks again at our rug center.  We really enjoyed playing at that center. At Miss Stacy's center we showed her what good writers we were, then we worked on putting more puzzles together. At Miss Kathleen's center we made Indian corn then decorated our sticky board turkeys.  We found that the feathers make good ticklers too!

Friday, November 7

We started our morning by walking down to the barrels in the hall and putting lots of cans and jars in there to help families who might not have enough food.

Then we went outside for some playground fun before coming in and joining Miss Jenna for music.

At centers today we had our pirate ship and puppets along with our castle blocks on the rug.  That was fun!  At Miss Paula's center we used eyedroppers to add color to coffee filters.  We also made turkey heads that we'll attach for a Thanksgiving decoration. We'll get to bring them home on Monday when they're all dry.  At Miss Kathleen's center we turned our coffee filters from last month into flowers to bring home. Then we put feathers on our sticky board turkeys. They looked beautiful!
**We made extra turkeys and flowers at our centers for our friends who weren't at school today so everyone would have one!

Wednesday, November 5

We worked an alphabet puzzle today during Morning Work for the first time.  We practiced saying our ABCs and checking the letter pieces left on the rug to see which one we needed next.  By the time we got to Z almost everyone was helping!

We had some excitement outside because we saw Paco the lizard hanging out by the fence!  He climbed down the wall, across the fence, onto the towel, and then went into a hole in the fence!  There was another lizard on the wall that we think might be Paco's sister.  We named her Taco!

At centers today, we had one more day of playing with our castle blocks and Littlest Pet Shop.  At Miss Paula's center we made beaded necklaces that will be part of our Thanksgiving program costumes.  They are SO beautiful!  At Miss Kathleen's center we finished taking pictures for our November placemats, then we read a Clifford magazine about turkeys.  We learned that daddy turkeys are called toms, mommy turkeys are called hens, and baby turkeys are called poults!  We also practiced the letter T.

We had a great snack today--we're still eating leftovers from our Halloween party!  Today we had applesauce for our sweet snack and popcorn (and a few chips) for our salty snack.  Then we chose our books to bring home.  We've really been enjoying some of the books from our new book crate of Songs & Chants!

Monday, November 3

We came in, hung up our coats, and warmed up while doing our Morning Work.

We went outside in the perfect cool weather to run around and play, then came in for our Morning Circle and centers.  At our rug center we had another day of our Littlest Pet Shop and castle blocks.  We're getting really good at building some complicated things with our castle blocks!  At Miss Paula's center we worked our hand and finger muscles by rolling and cutting PlayDoh.  Miss Paula added some cinnamon to the PlayDoh so it smelled delicious!  At Miss Kathleen's center we went outside to take some pictures for our November placemats, then came in to work a 24-piece puzzle.  We talked about different strategies for figuring out what pieces go where, then put the whole puzzle together using teamwork.
