Monday, November 18

We had another silly day in our classroom today!  We went outside right after we did our Morning Circle and Calendar Time.  It felt like summertime again!  We ran and played and had a great time.  Then we went over to the Sanctuary to practice for our Thanksgiving program with Miss Jenna and our friends.  We're doing a great job singing!

Thankful for the sun...

Thankful for the stars...

When we came back to our classroom we had snack before we had our centers!  That was a good thing because a lot of us were really hungry.  At our rug center we had our last day of playing with our action figures and colored wooden blocks.  At Miss Paula's center we made bracelets from cut-up straws and pipe cleaners, then we played with our magnet board.  At Miss Kathleen's center we finished our coffee filter turkeys and started on our paperbag turkeys.  We had a lot of fun at all of our centers today!

Friday, November 15

We had another silly Friday!  After our Morning Work, we went out to the playground right away--and then we didn't go back to our room.  Instead we went over to church to practice for our Thanksgiving program.

When we finally got back to our classroom, it was time for centers.  At our rug center, we still had our action figures and our colored wooden blocks.  (It's interesting to see the way the groups form and reform while working with these materials!)  At Miss Paula's center, some of us had to finish our costumes for the Thanksgiving program and then we played with the magnet board and worked on our fine motor control by picking up lizards, frogs, and snakes with our tweezers.  At Miss Kathleen's center we made a special turkey snack out of a sweet biscuit, peanut butter, raisins, almonds, cashews, banana chips, and pumpkin seeds!  some of us chose not to use all of the materials, but all of us had fun!

Wednesday, November 14

We started off our day by going over to the Sanctuary to practice for the Thanksgiving program with our friends in the 3s and 4s classes.  We were really good singers!

When we came back to the room, we had our centers but they were kind of silly!  We only had two groups instead of three.  One group played at our rug center with the action figures, colored wooden blocks, and puppets while the other group played at the tables with teddy bears, pegs, and the garden tub.  While we were working at centers, Miss Kathleen and Miss Paula called us over to one of the the tables to stamp our costumes for the Thanksgiving program.  We are going to look SO good!

When we finished our centers we helped make our salty snack for the day.  We had to listen very carefully to hear the popcorn start popping so Miss Kathleen could get the bag ready.  Then we had to listen carefully again for the popping to stop so we could turn off the popper.  We also talked about how the kernels of corn got so hot that they popped!

Here's our ears of corn that we made last week!

We had our ears wide open!

We are good cooks!

Monday, November 4

We started our day out on the playground where we had a great time running around and having fun!

When we came in, we started our centers.  We had lots of fun at our rug center with our colored wooden blocks and our Barbie/Ken/Action Figures crate.  At Miss Kathleen's center we read a Clifford magazine about turkeys and used the teacher cutting machine to make leaves from Friday's magic crayon designs.  At Miss Paula's center we learned to play Masie's Matching Game and made some Fantacolor bead pictures.  It was a fun morning!

Friday, November 1

We had a lot of fun during our Morning Work time.  Some of us worked puzzles at the table; many of us drew pictures; and a few of us compared dance moves!

We had a lot of fun playing when we went out on the playground, but we did have a little more resting than usual today!

We had a wonderful time during music with Miss Jenna and then we went right to our centers.  It was our last day to play with the cars at our rug center.  Next week we'll have something new.  At Miss Paula's center we practiced tracing/writing our names and stringing letter beads.  At Miss Kathleen's center we strengthened our hand muscles by sharpening crayons, then used a warm iron to magically melt them into beautiful designs.
