We had such busy centers this morning that Miss Kathleen forgot to get her camera out! Luckily she remembered to take it out to the playground with us!
Friday, September 9
We worked on our fine motor skills at our tables this morning. We played with Mr. Potato Heads, ladders, coloring, cutting, and puzzles. When it was time to come up on the floor for our Circle Time, we all helped clean up and put away all of our activities.
Our center with Miss Kathleen had to do with sorting and categorizing. We had stars, circles, and triangles that we worked on counting, sorting, and gluing onto our papers. When we were finished, we matched pairs of socks--and turned them into puppets!
With Mrs. Hennessy we worked on building our hand muscles while using PlayDoh. We rolled and squeezed and flattened and made all kinds of shapes. Some of us even made gingerbread men!
We had our giant LEGOS, cloth squares, and wooden blocks at our rug center again today. As we've spent some time playing with these, we've started to use them in different ways. Today some of us set the table with our wooden blocks and used our LEGOS as food!
We also had our first music class with Miss Caitlin today. We sang the Hello Song, What's the Weather?, Head and Shoulders, and Goodbye. We'll see Miss Caitlin every Friday. Next week Miss Kathleen will try to make a video so you can hear us singing!
Wednesday, September 7
As we came into the room this morning, we went to our tables to do some of our morning work. We chose from puzzles, unifix cubes, pegboards, coloring, and cutting. Once carpool was finished, we came up on the rug, said good morning to all of our friends, and learned a song called Classroom Rules.
Then we all went to the bathroom and took a bathroom break. We came back to the room and went to our centers. We all got a chance to do each of the different activities, but we had to take turns. Some of us started with Mrs. Hennessy making our September placemats, others started at Miss Kathleen's center where we painted with paint rings, and the rest of us first played with our big building materials up on the rug.
It was finally time for our playground break! We had a great time walking back and forth holding onto our classroom rope and an even better time playing with all of our friends out on the playground. After we came back inside and washed our hands (and took another bathroom break!) we had our snack. We practiced using our manners to ask for pretzels and Cheerios and refills on our water.
It was just about time to go home, but first we all came back to the rug to choose a book from our ABC crate, have a story, and sing a few more songs. Some of us were so tired that we were trying to nap on the rug! It's tough being a 3!
Classroom Rules
(tune of Frere Jacques)
Listening ears, looking eyes
Quiet voices, quiet voices (whisper)
Helping, helping hands
Walking, walking feet
Classroom rules, classroom rules!
Visitation!
We managed to squeeze a lot of fun into our short visitation day.
When we first came into the room we played with puzzles, built with our little ladders, and drew/colored with crayons. Then we all came up on the floor with Miss Kathleen for circle and practiced sitting criss-cross applesauce on our own spots. We read the story of the Gingerbread Man and helped by chanting, "Run, run as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man!"
Then we held onto our walking rope and went down to the bathroom for the first time as 3s! We all practiced going in and sitting on potty, washing our hands with one squirt of soap, and using one (or two) paper towels to dry our hands. We waited in the hall until everyone was finished, then walked back to the room and went to centers.
Some of us stated out by working on our calendars with Mrs. Hennessey--we loved putting the stickers on them! Others worked at playdough or building with our giant legos. Then we switched and switched again. By the end, everyone got a turn to do everything!

It was almost the end of the day, so we came back up to the rug for our ending circle. We talked about the fun things we had done and sang a song about the gingerbread man. You might have heard us singing it when we got home.
Gingerbread, gingerbread, turn around.
Gingerbread, gingerbread, touch the ground.
Gingerbread, gingerbread, climb the stairs.
Gingerbread, gingerbread, say your prayers.
Gingerbread, gingerbread, turn out the light.
Gingerbread, gingerbread, say goodnight.
Welcome Friends!!

Tuesday, May 17th
Tomorrow we meet at Tybee's Memorial Park at 9:30 for our end-of-the-year picnic. Pack your drinks, snacks, and side dishes to go along with the grilled hotdogs that the school will provide. It looks as if the weather will be perfect for a morning of fun and fellowship.
