Monday, August 29

We came right in and got started on our Morning Work today.  We worked at the manipulative table, wrote on the chalkboards, colored gingerbread men, and played with Potato Heads and cars on the rug.  We were busy!

After we cleaned up ,we went out to the playground.  That was so much fun!

We were glad to come back inside where it was nice and cool.  We practiced doing centers today.  Each of us got a center button necklace to wear.  Some of them had hearts, some of them had squares, and some had circles.  We practiced staying with our group as we went from center to center.  We did a really good job!

We cleaned up our centers, listened to a silly story called The Gingerbread Cowboy, said our blessing, had some pretzels for snack, and then sat down on the rug to read books while our friends finished eating.  Then it was time to get our backpacks and line up to go home!

Our Get-Acquainted Day

Our first day!

We spent the first part of the morning playing with manipulatives (puzzles, ladder builders, etc.) at the table, writing on the chalkboards, coloring gingerbread men, and using our Potato Heads  and puppets for dramatic play.

Then we all came up to the rug to say the Pledge of Allegiance, sing a few songs, and listen to the Gingerbread Man story.  We helped read along with "Run, run, as fast as you can.  You can't catch me 'cause I'm the Gingerbread Man!"

We followed our rug time with a time to the bathroom, then returned to play at the table, the rug, and to help Miss Paula and Miss Kathleen make our calendars for September. (Look for those to come home on Monday.)  We had fun!
