We were very busy during our Morning Work today.  We worked at coloring and cutting with Jonah and the Whale pictures and the letter W.  We built with Lincoln Logs on the rug.  We assembled gingerbread houses at the manipulative table, and we sang and danced to Who Did Swallow Jonah?  See below for a link to this song.  Our class loves it!

Who Did?
Who did, who did,
Who did, who did
Who did swallow
Jo, Jo, Jo, Jo
Who did, who did,
Who did, who did
Who did swallow
Jo, Jo, Jo, Jo
Who did, who did,
Who did, who did
Who did swallow
Jo, Jo, Jo, Jo
Who did swallow Jonah,
Who did swallow Jonah
Who did swallow Jonah down?

Whale did, whale did,
Whale did, whale did
Whale did swallow
Jo, Jo, Jo, Jo
Whale did, whale did,
Whale did, whale did
Whale did swallow
Jo, Jo, Jo, Jo
Whale did, whale did,
Whale did, whale did
Whale did swallow
Jo, Jo, Jo, Jo
Whale did swallow Jonah,
Whale did swallow Jonah
Whale did swallow Jonah down

Here's a link to a youtube video of the song.  We only sing the first two parts about Jonah! http://youtu.be/UZ5UeNOXbOQ

We had a wonderful time outside today.  It was sunny and cool; perfect weather for running and playing with our friends.  We were also lucky enough to see Paco and Taco and two lizard babies as we were lining up to come back inside!

When we came back into the classroom we got started on our centers.  At our rug center it was all about cars!  We had cars and race tracks and a garage and a car wash.  It was lots of fun!  At Miss Paula's center we made our placemats for next month.  They are going to be beautiful!  At Miss Kathleen's center we made groundhogs that popped out of their holes.  We practiced telling the story of how the groundhog comes out of hibernation to check for his shadow.

We were glad to have some pretty weather today for our playground time.  It was windy, but nice and sunny!

We came back in and got started on centers right away.  At our rug center we had one more day of playing with our castle blocks and doll house  We'll have something new at this center on Wednesday.  We had PlayDoh at Miss Paula's center.  Not only did we have a lot of fun building snowmen and using winter cookie cutters, but we also worked our finger muscles!  At Miss Kathleen's center we finished our snowmen from last week.  We added eyes, nose, buttons, and a sparkly hat!  We'll bring these home on Wednesday when they're dry.

Pajama Day!

We had a great time wearing our pajamas for Morning Work; watching Frozen; eating popcorn and Frozen cereal; and drinking hot chocolate.  It was a great Pajama Day!

It was so nice to have a sunny day today.  We really enjoyed our time outside this morning.  When we came in we were ready to start our centers.  At our rug center we had our doll house and our castle blocks.  There was a lot of action on the rug with those!  At Miss Paula's center we used our glue pots to spread glue all over a snowman shape and then we sprinkled it with snow.  While we waited for our friends to finish, we built with SQUIGZ.  They're really cool!  At Miss Kathleen's center we read a Clifford magazine and used our spying eyes to find hidden polar animals.  Then we practiced finding our names on a name Bingo card.

We had a special snack today after we sang Happy Birthday to one of our friends.  We ate some race car cookies!  They were delicious!

Friday, January 16

What an exciting day!  We finally got to go outside!  First we did some Morning Work.  Some of us played restaurant on the rug; some of us read books; and some of us worked at our manipulative table with magnets and lacing.

When we came inside we started our centers.  At the rug center we had our castle blocks and our doll house and family.  There was a lot of dramatic play with rescues and superheroes in our doll family.

At Miss Paula's center we played with some new finger-working toys.  We had to push suction cups together and pull them apart to build things.  We also took turns throwing snowballs!  That was fun!

At Miss Kathleen's center we practiced tracing and writing our names while holding our pencils/crayons correctly.  While we waited for our friends to finish their centers, we picked up pompoms with tweezers and decorated/redecorated our snowman.

We had a great day!
