Monday, November 26

We had a busy day!  Everyone was excited to be back after our break--we had lots of talking and sharing going on all morning!

At our rug center, we continued to play with our office equipment, but today we also had some cool big blocks for building.  At Mrs. Hennessy's center we made our December calendars--Miss Kathleen isn't going to be at school Wednesday or Friday so we wanted to make sure we got those sent home before December started!  We listened to a book with our earphones at Miss Kathleen's center.  Some of us solved the problem of our earphones sliding off our own way!  We also had our pictures taken for our December placemats--wearing either a Santa hat or reindeer antlers.

When we went outside, we enjoyed the fall weather.  Some of us had a lot of fun playing in the leaves!  When we came in and cleaned up we had a special snack waiting for us.  Alexander's dad went on a trip to China and brought back some panda-shaped cookies for our class.  They were really neat--each had its own wrapper--and they were delicious!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a wonderful time at our Thanksgiving program!

Wednesday, November 15

We've been working on some harder puzzles during our Morning Work time.  This picture is from earlier in the week, but it shows some of our girls who used teamwork to complete this unframed, 24 piece puzzle.

At centers today, we had our "sandbox"!  Inside is a large rubbermaid container filled with oatmeal and trinkets that we sift and organize and measure.  Often we sit outside and reach in to play, but this group got right into it!

We played Thanksgiving BINGO at another center.  Each of us had a BINGO card with various Thanksgiving pictures on it, a handful of chips, and listening ears.  We waited to hear what pictures we had to look for, then covered them up with our chips.  We also started to learn the matching rules of dominoes.  We'll work on those some more later.

Today was our last day for the kitchen and pirate puppets at our rug center.  On Friday, we'll have something completely new and different!

Monday, November 12

We started our day by saying the Pledge of Allegiance and singing "Salute the Flag" in honor of our veterans.  Then we were caring friends and carried some of our food donations down to the Second Harvest collection bin.

At centers today, we finished our coffee filter turkeys, then we practiced gobble, gobbling with them.  We enjoyed playing with our pirate ship and kitchen set at our rug center.  Today we had some wonderful chefs creating meals!  We made Indian corn with Mrs. Hennessy.  There was a lot of fine-motor work involved in rolling up our corn kernels and gluing them down!

Friday, November 9

Because we have music with Miss Megan on Friday, our day is a little silly.  We go outside to the playground first, then come in for music before centers and snack.  Here you can see us singing and dancing with Miss Megan and our beanbags!

At Miss Kathleen's center today , we experimented with sand trays.  Some of us drew shapes, some of us explored the the texture, all of us had fun.  Later we'll practice tracing letters in these.  At our rug center we played with our pirate ship again and our new kitchen.  (Thanks to Liam for donating this!)  One of the things we liked best was using the telephones!  With Mrs. Hennessy we worked on the first part of our turkey project.  We used eyedroppers to paint coffee filters!  It was cool to see how the colors blended.

We had a special treat for snack today!  After we sang "Happy Birthday" to our birthday friend, we used special Batman plates to have pretzels and a cookie!

Wednesday, November 7

Miss Kathleen didn't get ANY pictures during centers today because both she and Mrs. Hennessy were helping us stamp/paint our costumes for the Thanksgiving program. You can see a picture of the finished products below--and some fun photos from our outside time!

Monday, November 5

We had a few new table "games" out for our Morning Work today.  We also had some of our old favorites--like bubble-wrap!

We had our boats at our rug center again this week.  We'll switch out for something new next week.  (I hope it proves as fun and exciting for everyone!)  With Mrs. Hennessy we worked on our beaded necklaces for the Thanksgiving program.  This was a little hard for some of us because the holes on the beads were small and took a lot of fine motor control.  At Miss Kathleen's center we read a Clifford the Big Red Dog magazine about turkeys.  We also practiced the letter T and did some sorting and storytelling with fall-colored felt leaves.

We spent some time outside with our friends, then came in for a snack that we put together ourselves.  We each got a tortilla (Plates we can eat!) a spoonful of peanut butter, and a few candy corns to make our own wraps.  Some of us made wrap sandwiches, while others ate each thing separately.
