Merry Christmas Party Day!
Monday, December 12
Brrrr! It was a chilly day today! Some of us left our coats on for morning work so we could warm up. We had our Mr. Potato Heads out this morning and there were a lot of giggles as we made silly potatoes with mixed-up features. We also played with our tangrams and puzzles.
We can't tell you what we worked on in Miss Kathleen's center or Mrs. Hennessy's center. You'll have to wait until Wednesday to find out! But we did have some fun with our Christmas center and the new blocks in our rug center. We still have our horses out for the rug center, at least until Christmas break!
Because we couldn't go outside today, we had a special snack and then watched the end of our Diego video. We followed all of the directions in the video and helped Diego get the baby dinosaur back to Egg Island!

We're working on some Christmas surprises!
At Miss Kathleen's center today we had Christmas activities. We decorated (and then undecorated) a small Christmas tree and played with animals and figures from the Nativity story. Both of these activities are great for language development and fine motor skills. At Mrs. Hennessy's center we worked on one of our Christmas ornaments--another great fine motor skill activity! At the rug center we played with horses and blocks again. (Miss Kathleen had planned on changing out this center for a new one today, but preschool protesters convinced her otherwise!)
Friday, December 2
Fridays are a silly day for us because one of the first things we do is go outside! As soon as we come back in we wait for Miss Caitlin to bring her guitar and begin music. Here you can see us hiding like little turtles while we wait and then practicing some of our songs for the Christmas program with her. (If you click on the links, you can hear us too!)

We eased back into our centers this morning! It was nice to be back with all of our friends after a week off. We worked with play-doh in Mrs. Hennessy's center. We used some new tools to make different shapes and designs.
At Miss Kathleen's center, we decorated Christmas bags. We'll be working on some ornaments over the next couple of weeks that we can bring home and share with our families. When we finished our bags, we did some name recognition and matching games.
We had some new toys at our rug center too: a big box of horses! We also had our wooden blocks that we used to build fences and barns and paths for our horses! Some of us decided that our horses were the flying kind so they needed towers instead!
